Cold Wars RASC 1/64 Scale Race

Well Cold Wars was a roaring success. I had a 16 and 20 car fields
for my races. We went to completion of 12 laps inside 5 hours. This
included instruction on the rules, qualifing the field, and full race
distance with pitstops. I use my version of the realism package, with
car setups, and advanced tire and pitting.

Kanas was a nice leggy speedway race, only one yellow flag event, and
some lucky suffeling in the pit stops, we know its a fantasy game when
Kyle Petty and John Andretti finish 1 and 2!

The Martinsville was slightly anti-climatic, as we had an interesting
pursuit going on, with the leader running on dead tires, 2 laps to go,
the second place person having a lap on good rubber left, and closing.
Then an accident, that punted Stirling Martin into Pit lane caused a
yellow. We sorted out pits and did and single lap to victory. Good
tires paid off and carried victory, the leader was shuffled back 3 places.

Very interesting how the short track, lead to hack and slash racing,
while the speedway, has much more cooperation as everyone wants to
move forward in the draft and there are many more places to pass.

Quote of the Martinsville race, Biffle lost a lap in the pits on a
yellow flag stop due to some serious bad luck (crap rolls, held up by
other cars in pit lane, missing the pace car by one space). He had a
runner and should have been a leader. For the rest of the race he was
on the heels of the leader, saying; "You have my lap and I want it back!"

I have evolved my loser rule (This is when you roll 2 TIs or more).
Now in addition to -2 on challenge on the next round you suffer a -1
on your movement dice. This works pretty well and tends to make a
loser lose one position.

Also a tire wear rule, We had some issues with when a yellow flag
comes out. If the leader has crossed the start finish line and has
taken a tire, and a yellow flag appears, all cars on the lead lap
that have not taken a tire must do so. This keeps people that where
just lucky in position, from getting a 1 tire bonus.

BTW for a con tire life is 6 laps. This leads to atleast 1 green flag
pit.
